Limes (Citrus aurantifolia) are tropical citrus fruits closely related to lemons and part of the Rutaceae family. Native to Southeast Asia, key limes were once abundant in the Florida Keys until a 1929 hurricane destroyed most groves. Today, due to their long maturation time and the large number needed for juicing, we source the finest key limes from around the world.
Key limes are small, aromatic, and extremely juicy, with a thin yellow rind and a bold, complex acidity that sets them apart from Persian limes. This makes them ideal for cooking, drinks, and desserts—especially classic key lime pie.
